JEE Main 2026 is expected to be conducted in two sessions: January (Session 1) and April (Session 2). The official notification is likely to be released in November 2025, with registrations opening the same month for Session 1 and in February 2026 for Session 2

Eligibility Highlights

  • No age limit: Candidates of any age can apply, provided they meet the academic year requirement (Class 12 passed in 2024/ 2025 or appearing in 2026).
  • Must have studied Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry (or Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational) in Class 12 (for B.Tech), and Mathematics is mandat.ory for B.Arch and B.Planning.
  • Attempts allowed: Maximum of six attempts over three consecutive years starting from the year of passing Class 12.
  • 75% board marks requirement applies only at time of admission in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, not for appearing in the exam.

Exam Pattern & Syllabus

JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) includes 75 questions - 25 each in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Each correct answer carries +4, with -1 for wrong answers; unattempted questions carry no penalty.

The syllabus is based on NCERT Class 11 and 12, and expected to remain unchanged from 2024 onwards.
