JoSAA Counselling 2025: Schedule, Process & Required Documents
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has officially released the JoSAA Counselling 2025 schedule. The counselling process will begin on 3 June and end on 12 June. Eligible candidates who have qualified JEE Main can register online at josaa.nic.in.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct six rounds of counselling for admissions to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Candidates who qualify JEE Main 2025 can register and fill their choices online at josaa.nic.in.
The JoSAA 2025 counselling process involves the following key steps:

The JoSAA Round 1 seat allotment result will be announced on June 14, 2025. Candidates must confirm their allotted seat within the specified timeline. If seats remain vacant after all six rounds, they will be filled through CSAB Counselling 2025.

JoSAA Counselling Process 2025 – Step-by-Step Guide
The JoSAA Counselling 2025 process includes several steps: registration, choice filling, choice locking, seat allotment, online reporting, and document verification. Candidates eligible through JEE Main 2025 must register at josaa.nic.in to begin the process.
Seats will be allotted based on JEE Main rank, preferences, and seat availability. After allotment, candidates must confirm their seat, upload documents, and pay the admission fee online. It is important to follow the official schedule and complete all steps on time.
Step 1: JoSAA 2025 Registration
- Visit the official website: josaa.nic.in
- Log in using your JEE Main registration number and password
- Your details will be fetched from the JEE database automatically
- Verify all details, change the password if needed, and complete the registration
Step 2: Choice Filling
- Select your preferred courses and institutes
- The more choices you fill, the better your chances of getting a seat
- Choose options based on your rank, interest, and eligibility
- Make sure to complete choice filling before the deadline
Step 3: Choice Locking
- After filling in your choices, lock them to avoid changes
- If you don’t lock manually, choices will be auto-locked on the last date
- Once locked, no further changes will be allowed
Step 4: Seat Allotment
- JoSAA will conduct seat allotment in six rounds
- Allotment is based on rank, filled choices, category, and seat availability
- Check your seat allotment result by logging into the JoSAA portal
Step 5: Online Reporting & Fee Payment
After getting the seat, to confirm the seat, candidates have to:
- Pay the seat acceptance fee
- ₹35,000 for General/OBC
- ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD
- Upload the required documents
- Complete the process via the online reporting portal
Step 6: Document Verification
In this step, students will be required to get their documents verified as per the schedule. Document verification will be conducted online. Only after the verification of documents, students will be allowed to report to the allocated for final admission.
Step 7: Select Freeze, Float, or Slide Option
After the seat is allotted, the candidate has to choose one of the three options:
- Freeze – Satisfied with allotted seat and do not want to upgrade
- Float – Accept seat but wish to be considered for better options in other institutes
- Slide – Accept seat but want to upgrade to a better branch within the same institute
Step 8: Further Rounds & Final Reporting
- You may be allotted a new seat in subsequent rounds
- After the final round, report physically to the allotted institute for admission
Important Notes
- Physical verification is mandatory for PwD candidates
- Keep track of updates and announcements on josaa.nic.in
- Incomplete registration or missed deadlines may result in seat cancellation

- Three passport-sized photographs (same as JEE Main application)
- Provisional seat allotment letter
- Candidate’s undertaking
- Proof of seat acceptance fee payment (via SBI e-challan or net banking)
- Class 10 mark sheet or birth certificate
- Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
- Government-issued photo ID
- Medical certificate
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- OCI/PIO certificate (if applicable)
- Printout of choices filled during registration
